MC-30 bitumen and other materials needed for R. Dhuvaafaru road project were unloaded at the project site today. Work on the project which involves the development of major roads in R. Dhuvaafaru is well underway, with overall 63% project progress.
The road drainage system designed for R. Dhuvaafaru is an infiltration system which ensures rainwater is filtered into the freshwater lens of the island instead of pumping out water to sea. The system is similar to the infiltration stormwater system used in Hulhumale’ Phase One.
The project consists of a carriageway (driving area of road) of 25, 513sqm; sidewalks of 6813sqm; road drainage; service lines with cable junctions; road lighting; signboards and markings.The revised value for the project is MVR 47.04 million.
