Mr. Mohamed Afeef Hussain was appointed to the Board as the Chairman by the majority shareholders of the Government of Maldives, on 18th December 2023. Mr. Afeef is a highly experienced professional who has held key positions in the government and various state-owned enterprises with over four decades of practice.

 

Mr. Mohamed Afeef Hussain currently serves as the Director General of the Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works.

 

Mr. Afeef has also held key roles in various governmental and corporate entities. During his tenure at the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure  (2019-2023), he served as the Director General of Corporate Affairs, and Director General of Housing.  Prior to this, he worked as the Director General of Public Works Services from 2012 to 2019.

 

Moreover, he also served as acting Managing Director at Works Corporation from 2012 to 2013, and as the Executive Director from 2009 to 2012.

 

Mr. Afeef made notable contributions to State Electric Company Limited (STELCO), where he served as Chairman from 2013 to 2016 and held key positions, including Assistant Managing Director, Director, and Deputy Director during different periods from 2002 to 2008.

 

Additionally, Mr. Afeef played key roles in Fenaka Corporation Limited, serving as a Non-Executive Director from 2012 to 2013 and later as Chairman in 2013, further demonstrating his diverse and accomplished career in both the public sector and state owned entities.

 

Mr. Afeef holds a Master of Sharia from Villa College. He also completed several trainings, including Directors Training Programs from Institute of Corporate Directors and Secretaries and Public Finance Institute.

 

Mr. Mohamed Afeef Hussain also does not own any shares in the company.
